What is a fair price for you to pay a plumber or kitchen fitter to replace the sink in your kitchen? What costs are involved and what is the average price?

The quotes on this page are an average, we gathered the figures by getting prices from many plumbers and kitchen fitters located up and down the country.

How Difficult is to Remove and Replace a Sink?

For a competent kitchen fitter or plumber, this work isn’t difficult at all. The sink is easy to disconnect from the pipework and to remove.

The installation of the new sink may involve cutting/trimming the existing worktop, it’s therefore, important that you buy a sink that is the same size or slightly larger than the original!

Extending the existing pipes is something that your plumber may need to do, you may also need new waste pipework but in reality this is work is fairly standard and the parts are not expensive at all.

Moving Sink to New Location in Kitchen

If you want to relocate the sink to another location in the kitchen, then you will need new worktops and also considerable pipework for the hit and cold water and also the waste.

The cost for this work is very subjective. How expensive are the worktops? How far away from the original pipework do you want the new sink to be located?

We couldn’t get a figure from our traders for this work but as a ballpark figure, assume £500 excluding the new worktops. This obviously depends on your location and whether you choose a small or large company to complete the work.

The Price

The price below is for a straight and simple sink swap. The second quote includes some additional pipework. They do not include any costs for new worktops which would cost considerably more. The cost of the sink, taps and fittings are included in the quote, for comparison the cost of these materials alone was £250.00. There are many sinks cheaper than this, so shop around and save money if you are on a tight budget.
